Women As Lovers marks the first time Stewart... (more)

COULD YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR RADIOTHON FUNDRAISER?
Every March we do a 10-day, on-air fundraiser, similar to those you hear every few months on NPR. We break down the organization by day and by show, and every DJ at WHUS comes out to help. During the daytime and primetime hours there are at least three people helping to answer phones and take pledges. We generally set a goal between $25,000 and $30,000 and meet it, or come close to meeting it, every year. We give away lots of premiums for different pledges including surplus CDs, T-shirts, coffee mugs and tons of gift certificates that local businesses donate. We’ve also given away the contents of a DJ’s trunk for a $20 pledge, had a DJ shave his head and get tasered on air and allowed pledgers to name DJ’s for a donation. Radiothon is an opportunity for our listeners in the community (and DJ’s parents) to show their support for WHUS and keep us up and running smoothly each year.
