IMA Buzz - March 2008

There will be many sights and sounds happening in Austin, Texas at this year's SXSW festival. Some of the not-to-be-missed acts playing official showcases also happen to be Independent Music Awards Winners & Finalists. Be sure to check out these and other incredible artists throughout the conference.

Expect to hear new tunes from Richard Julian when he takes the stage at SXSW. His newest release, Sunday Morning In Saturday's Shoes is the artist’s second release on the Manhattan/EMI label following a trilogy of incredible indie label releases. Sunday Morning… was released last week, so the songs are guaranteed fresh! The 11 song compilation was recorded in Los Angeles under the guidance of legendary producer, Mitchell Froom, best known for his work with Los Lobos, Crowded House, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Bonnie Raitt & Ron Sexsmith to name but a few. The Pinker Tones
(Music Video finalists, 7th Annual IMAs)


Alternative Press magazine named The Pinker Tones among the publication’s “100 Bands You Need to Know” in 2008. The Barcelona, Spain based duo has also confirmed it will be playing a special SXSW showcase and embarking on the entire Vans Warped Tour. Girl In A Coma

Circo
(World Fusion Song Finalist, 6th Annual IMAs)

This Blackheart Records act ended 2007 on a high note when its tune, “Because I’m Awesome,” was named “Coolest Song in the World 2007” by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. Freezepop
