STUDENT AFFAIRS

Capstone Men and Women applications are due Friday, Feb. 1. Applications are available at http://bama.ua.edu/~cmw/.

College Bowl will be played at the Ferguson Center Feb. 4-6. College Bowl is a game in which your serious brainpower can help you rack up some serious points on the scoreboard. We’re signing up teams for our Campus Tournament now, so fire up those brain cells and get in the game! Registration is $25 per team. Short and Sweet Resume Critiques will be offered Feb. 5 & 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to the Career Center’s Jones Center (3rd floor Ferguson right by the elevators) for a 5-10 minute resume critique, and enjoy some sweet treats while you’re there. The Off-campus Housing Fair will be held Jan. 30-31, at the Ferguson Center. Students considering living off-campus will have an opportunity to talk to representatives of area rental properties. Information will be provided regarding leases, landlord and tenant rights, being a good neighbor and more.

Nutrition Services are now offered by the Student Health Center. The Student Health Center now has a full-time dietician that offers individual nutrition appointments, grocery store tours at Publix, nutrition presentations to student groups, and a dietitian on-the-go table at the Ferguson Center for students to ask their nutrition questions. Find your talent and discover your abilities with Discovery Courses at the Ferguson Center. Courses begin in early February and run for five weeks. Courses offered this semester include Beginning Guitar, Sign Language, Wine Tasting (for those 21 and older), Latin Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, and Yin-Yang Yoga. Alabama’s Student Alumni Association is now accepting applications for Spring 2008. Applications can be picked up at Alumni Hall or electronically sent through email. (For electronic copy, let SAA know at saa@bama.ua.edu.) Applications are due Feb. 1, and a list of those selected for interviews will be posted at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, on the doors outside Alumni Hall. Corolla yearbooks will be sold Jan. 31, from 4-7 p.m. in front of Lakeside Dining. You can also order your yearbook and have it charged to your student account at http://corolla.ua.edu.

Check your well-being with the Counseling Center on Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Anderson Room. Free screenings and food will be available.

The National Alumni Association is accepting nominations for the 2008 Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Awards. All full-time faculty are eligible. The Elliot Society is now accepting applications. This society recognizes students, faculty, and alumni who made significant leadership contributions to the campus, community, state, and nation in areas of social and cultural progress and who portray a spirit of the ideals held by Congressman Elliott.
